Italy – Silvano Ferluga Lajnarji Rosso

Domaine and vineyard
The winery Silvano Ferluga ... does not exist. From 1950 to 1984, Silvano Ferluga opened a osmizia (tavern devoted essentially to the sale of bulk wine) in the municipality of Piscianzi, Lajnarji hamlet in the hills above Trieste. At the time the osmizia opened only in December but the growing success led to a second opening in May.
Today is the son of Silvano who is dealing with and osmizia, the only place to find the two wines produced by Ferluga: a white (blend of Vitovska, gler in and Malvasia) and this red.

The wine
The Lajnarji Red is a blend of local grapes with a strong component of the Carso Refosco.

This bottle was a gift of a person who knows very well Friuli and its beauties. Find some information on the internet is almost impossible: a word on the osmizia run by Ferluga family but absolutely nothing about the wines they produce. The red Lajnarji is the classic wine tavern: a ruby color, aroma of wine, grape, red fruits; in the mouth it is substantial, almost same eating the grapes it was made. The body is fine and the slightly acidic and very persistent wine. A honest product with a great added value: the feeling of sitting in a typical Italian tavern ... in whichever corner of the world.
