Domaine
and vineyard
The winery Emilio Bulfon is located in the foothills of the Pordenone
province, surrounded by forests, hills and the banks of the Tagliamento river. The
domaine is extended with its vineyards in the area which includes the towns of
Castelnuovo del Friuli and Pinzano al Tagliamento, an area in the hills, it
consists of 15.90 hectares of which 11 are planted with native varieties
exclusively retrieved Friuli vineyard.
Since 2006 the company promotes not only wines, but also the rich
heritage of history and art of the area. Not surprisingly, the company logo,
and the label of wines, now unmistakable, are inspired by a detail of a fresco
of medieval origin, present in the Church of St. Mary of the Beaten Valeriano,
depicting "The Last Supper".
The heart of the company's philosophy is represented by the rediscovery
and the recovery of ancient vines Friulian cultivated for centuries in the
hills of Western Friuli. Ancient vines that up to thirty years ago seemed to
have disappeared but that of Emilio Bulfon passion, with the help of Naomi and
sons Lorenzo and Alberta, has revived in new life and carefully identified,
selected and replanted, with the collaboration of the Experimental Institute of
Conegliano ampelographers experts.
The wine
Bulfon Sciaglin 2014
is a 100% sciaglin; the vineyard where it comes from is located in the villages
of Pinzano al Tagliamento and Castelnovo del Friuli on terroir of medium
texture. Vines are trained in simple and double Guyot, with a density of 4000 vines
per hectare and an average yield of 70-80 hl/ha.
The wine itself is a still white wine.
The native grape Sciaglìn, probably originated from
"schiavolino" meaning wine Slavia, land located on the edge of the
Julian Alps. Now it is grown only in the area of Pinzano al Tagliamento and
Castelnovo del Friuli, as Regional regulation.

Wine perfect for appetizers with herbal and with delicate
fish.
In its sparkling version he had not convinced me, with bubbles that had covered the scent and flavor. As a still wine, sciaglin proves an honest wine as an aperitif or to accompany fish dishes. almost greenish yellow color, the wine is fresh and balanced tannins. The apple stands out nicely for a wine that keeps a good persistence and a good flavor. An enjoyable experience.
