Domaine
and vineyard
The winery Emilio Bulfon is located in the foothills of the Pordenone
province, surrounded by forests, hills and the banks of the Tagliamento river. The
domaine is extended with its vineyards in the area which includes the towns of
Castelnuovo del Friuli and Pinzano al Tagliamento, an area in the hills, it
consists of 15.90 hectares of which 11 are planted with native varieties
exclusively retrieved Friuli vineyard.
Since 2006 the company promotes not only wines, but also the rich
heritage of history and art of the area. Not surprisingly, the company logo,
and the label of wines, now unmistakable, are inspired by a detail of a fresco
of medieval origin, present in the Church of St. Mary of the Beaten Valeriano,
depicting "The Last Supper".
The heart of the company's philosophy is represented by the rediscovery
and the recovery of ancient vines Friulian cultivated for centuries in the
hills of Western Friuli. Ancient vines that up to thirty years ago seemed to
have disappeared but that of Emilio Bulfon passion, with the help of Naomi and
sons Lorenzo and Alberta, has revived in new life and carefully identified,
selected and replanted, with the collaboration of the Experimental Institute of
Conegliano ampelographers experts.
The wine
The Bulfon Refosco 2014 is 100%
Refosco; the vineyard where it comes from is located in the villages of Valeriano
and Pinzano al Tagliamento on terroir of medium texture. Vines are trained in simple
and double Guyot, with a density of 4000 vines per hectare and an average yield
of 50 hl/ha.
The wine itself is a still red wine.

Food
and wine pairing
Salami, roast.
Refosco
is a variety that I really like, able to offer products of absolute excellence.
This wine has less lofty aspirations but looks like a good table wine that
highlights the cool side and crispy this vine. Scents and tastes revolve around
red fruit, a freshness that makes the almost crunchy wine and marked tannins
and rough. sufficient persistence. In essence, honest wine, ideal to accompany
a good lunch.
